HCAP Launches New Website
We are pleased to announce that the new HCAP website is up and running! Over the past six months, the Social Media team, along with the help of Social Media Consultant, Roxanne Darling has worked hard to build a new and improved website. We hope you will take the time to look over the new website and find it informational and easy to use. Enjoy!
Pillows for Kumuhonua Residents
Kyra is currently a 6th grader at Kamehameha Schools – Kapalama. The sixth grader students were assigned the task of picking a community service project in which they needed to do more than donate money. Kyra wanted each individual to feel at home at the Kumuhonua Transitional Living Center, so she made small sized pillows that each resident could call their own, since such individuals have been affected by homelessness and displacement. Kyra also participates in her school’s Children’s Choir, GEM Club, & band. Mahalo, Kyra for your countless hours of hard work and generosity in the donations of the handmade pillows!
C-Base Students Engage in Mock Interviews
One of the programs offered at the Central District Service Center is the Competency Based Community School Diploma Program. Students are currently working on the Occupational Knowledge class and participated in mock interviews. Mock interviews are very important for students because they prepare students for real-life interviews. As part of the program requirements, students are required to work or volunteer for 100 hours in order to obtain their Hawaii Adult Community School Diploma. In addition, students are enrolled in HCAP’s new Na Lima Hana Employment Core Services Program, which provides students additional support and guidance in their endeavor to gain full-time employment.
