HCAP Participating in 2014 #GivingTuesday Campaign

HCAP is excited to announce our participation in the annual #GivingTuesday campaign. Just in time for the holiday season, HCAP is encouraging the act of giving by hosting and highlighting various community events throughout the month of November.
#GivingTuesday is a new calendar day dedicated to giving back, giving smarter, and celebrating the spirit of contribution. According to their website, “[o]n Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.” Visit the Giving Tuesday website at http://givingtuesday.org/
With the power of the social media hashtag #GivingTuesday, the movement invites people around the world to participate in conversations surrounding charity. Having recently celebrated their first year on Facebook and Twitter, HCAP will join this movement with the goal of raising $2000 in monetary donations, with 100% of HCAP staff making a personally meaningful donation. Individuals can make a donation at any time on our website at https://www.hcapweb.org/support-hcap/.
“#GivingTuesday is remarkable – in a sense that it brings light to the importance of volunteering and giving back to one’s community, during a season marketed toward consumerism,” said Robert N.E. Piper, HCAP’s Executive Director. “This is an opportunity to connect our organization’s stories of family and community to a strong social movement.”
In November, HCAP will encourage the act of selflessness in each of their programs by hosting and highlighting various community events throughout the giving season. HCAP will showcase these events through social media- on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and in the HCAP Weekly e-newsletter.
