HCAP Opens Kalaeloa District Service Center

The Honolulu Community Action Program celebrates the official opening of the Kalaeloa District Service Center, located at Kalaeloa, Barbers Point. The Kalaeloa District Service Center aims to serve those in the Ewa Beach region and is strategically located within the same facility as HCAP’s Kumuhonua Transitional Living Center (KTLC). KTLC participants and community members alike are able to visit the Kalaeloa District Service Center to receive personalized case management, support services, and information on the wraparound opportunities that HCAP offers to assist individuals and families towards greater self-sufficiency.

HCAP extends a warm welcome to Nola Gasper as the Kalaeloa District Specialist. Nola was born and raised here on Oʻahu. She has had extensive experience in the clerical and customer service field but made the decision at the age of 39 to go back to school to obtain an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science Human Services. She is currently enrolled at the Honolulu Community College and aims to continue her education in hopes of one day obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in social work. Nola states that she chose this profession because she has been on the other side, having to overcome homelessness, substance abuse, domestic violence, and various other social issues herself.

Nola shared, “It is not only very important to me to have found a career that feeds my spirit and that I am very passionate about, but also affords me the opportunity to give back to my community and the people of Hawai’i. I am super grateful for HCAP and look forward to being part of a great team that helps to advocate for change and make a difference in the lives of so many people.”
