Kalaeloa Partnership Unifies in Support of the Clients
Nā Lima Hana Assists Client in Certification
Tasha came to the Kalihi-Palama District Service Center to apply for vocational training assistance through HCAP’s Nā Lima Hana – Employment Core Services (ECS). Tasha’s introduction to the ECS program was through a referral from another client who had successfully applied for vocational training assistance. Recognizing the potential for personal and professional growth, Tasha embraced the opportunity to enhance her skills and prospects for a fulfilling career.
Tasha recently graduated from a program with the Salvation Army and is in a transitional center until she reaches self-sufficiency. Enrolling in the phlebotomy program offered by HCAP’s education partner, Hawaii Medical Training Program, Tasha began classes in November 2023. Before the end of the month, she had completed the program and received her certification! Tasha has been actively searching for a job and is excited for an opportunity to use her certification and explore various prospects within the medical field.

Engineering Buildings at Head Start
The Head Start keiki at Waiau Pre Plus used their creativity, imaginary skills, and recycled boxes to build and draw the buildings on campus, their houses, and their own building. They then made real-life connections, recalled, and learned new vocabulary words while reading signs from the buildings on campus. They also solicited the help of the campus custodian to talk about his job, the tools he used to take care of the buildings, and how they can help with taking care of the campus.

Kalaeloa Partnership Unifies in Support of the Clients
As part of a flourishing partnership with the Kalaeloa District Service Center and Nā Lima Hana Employment Core Services (ECS), HCAP staff have fostered a wonderful relationship with Kealahou West Oʻahu (KWO) Onelauena. This ongoing relationship enables HCAP and KWO to serve those who are in need of various services from both emergency shelters. By continuing monthly visits with KWO, HCAP is able to assist clients like Jeremy.
Jeremy enrolled in ECS Job Readiness Training in August of 2023 and was seeking assistance with obtaining legal documents that would allow him to be able to secure employment. Over the past few months, Jeremy has continued to make big strides in working toward self-sustainability. In November, Jeremy secured a position with Lifeline Wireless. Jeremy shared that he is absolutely happy with the path that he is on. Not only has this job allowed Jeremy to serve his community, but it has given him the flexibility that he needs as a father. Jeremy regularly attends follow-up meetings with Kalaeloa and has done a great job at keeping staff abreast of his progress. Jeremy has now successfully met his 30 and 60-day milestones, and states that there are no limits to where he can go from here. The Kalaeloa District Service Center is honored to work with clients such as Jeremy and continues to work toward assisting others in becoming self-sustainable.
