Nā Lima Hana: Employment Core Services (ECS) Program Establishes Employment Partnerships with Mānoa Senior Care and Sunshine Landscaping Company

HCAP’s Nā Lima Hana Employment Cores Services (ECS) Program recently established two new employment partnerships in order to assist program participants in finding employment that fits their qualifications, interests, and needs.

The first of these two partnerships is with Mānoa Senior Care, a collection of 11 private, licensed Adult Residential Care Homes for Oahu’s seniors. HCAPʻs Nā Lima Hana: Employment Core Services (ECS) Program staff spoke with Joanna, a registered nurse with Mānoa Senior Care, who shared information about their companyʻs Nurse Training Program. The program runs four days a week, 8am – 5pm, for four weeks. Joanna also shared that after completing the course and clinical hours, it could be possible for participants to receive a job offer with Mānoa Senior Care as a Nurse Aide. In order to be accepted into the Nurse Training Program, applicants would need to complete a 2-step TB test, obtain a recent physical exam, and have a high school diploma or GED. For eligible ECS participants, the financial cost of the Nurse Training Program would be covered by the Nā Lima Hana: Employment Core Service Program. In addition to hiring Nurse Aides, Mānoa Senior Care also has other great employment opportunities for ECS participants who have recently finished or will be finishing a vocational training program in the medical field.

Our Nā Lima Hana: Employment Core Services (ECS) Program also established an employment partnership with Sunshine Landscaping Company. Sunshine Landscaping performs projects relating to landscaping, maintenance, irrigation, and tree work. Their main office is located in Kāneʻohe, but they offer their services across most of the island. The company is drug-free and smoke-free. Employees must also have a valid driverʻs license and their own mode of transportation. This employment opportunity is great for clients who are hard-working, enjoy being outside, and like being hands-on.

Over 200 of our Head Start and Early Head Start teachers and staff attended the week-long training and received important information on the upcoming year’s policies, procedures, health, and other mandated topics. Throughout the week, staff attended breakout training sessions by area component and also set-up their classrooms in preparation for the first day of in-person instruction.
