Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Begins

LIHEAP intake is held during the month of June at 5 convenient locations throughout the island of Oahu. LIHEAP is a federally funded program, offered once a year to provide income-eligible households with assistance in paying their electric or gas bills. Head Start Honors Employee Service and Dedication
Head Start held its End of the Year In-Service training, in which staff were acknowledged for the work that they do to promote both Family Engagement and School Readiness. Shown above are the Family Advocates that were recognized for their outstanding work with Family Engagement. Head Start Director, Lynn Cabato and Executive Director, Robert N.E. Piper recognized the nominees for Employee of the Year. Corinna Lopez, Family Advocate, was recognized as the Employee of the Year. Staff also received training in Studies vs. Themes and Sensory Processing Disorder with Wendy Correa, Assistant Director of PACT Head Start.
Head Start Bookmobile Visits Leeward Coast Classrooms
This week, the Head Start Bookmobile, driven by Uncle Phil, visited Keiki Country I and Nanakuli I Head Start classrooms. Upon arriving at the classrooms, Auntie Dulcie read the children a few stories. Then the children went into the Bookmobile to choose a few books to borrow. The children really enjoyed visiting with Auntie Dulcie and Uncle Phil.
Youth Services Graduation is Fast Approaching
The Youth Services Graduation Caps and Gowns have been delivered and preparations are being made for the annual Youth Services Graduation Awards Ceremony. The Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 18th at the McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Beach Park. Youth Services is still accepting donations of black or dark blue ties and tropical flowers. If you would like to make a donation, please call 591-1766.
HCAP Employees 2014 Benefits Open Enrollment
HCAP Employees, it’s that time of year for HCAP’s Annual Open Enrollment, which is your opportunity to enroll in HCAP’s Group Medical and/or Dental plans, make changes to your existing plans, and add/remove dependents. If you decline to enroll or do not make changes to your existing plans, the next opportunity to do so will not be until next year’s Open Enrollment, except as permitted by applicable regulations. If you have not received your envelope in the mail, containing the open enrollment forms, contact HCAP Human Resources: Tania at 447-5421 or Patti at 447-5436. All change forms are due to Human Resources by Friday, June 13th.
