HCAP H-HEAP Services Highlighted in Hawaiian Electric Ho’oku’i Newsletter

HCAP is proud to be featured by its close partner, Hawaiian Electric, in the April 2026 edition of their Ho’oku’i Newsletter as a trusted provider of the Hawai’i Home Energy Assistance Program (H-HEAP) from June 1 to June 30, 2026. The Ho’oku’i Newsletter features energy-saving tips, energy and utilities related news, and updates on clean energy initiatives.

Every year, during the month of June, HCAP carries out the processing of applications for the Hawai’i Home Energy Assistance Program (H-HEAP) across its District Service Centers. The Hawai’i Home Energy Assistance Program is a federally funded program to aid vulnerable households in receiving Energy Credit towards a future electricity bill.

H-HEAP, formerly known as LIHEAP, is a program intended to help those in most need of assistance with paying their electricity bills. The program administers Energy Credit in June each year, while Energy Crisis Intervention services are offered at HCAP year-round based on month-to-month availability. HCAP’s District Service Centers are gearing up for its upcoming Energy Credit period this June. Visit HCAP’s Website for more information on H-HEAP and how to apply today.

Head Start Classrooms Get Curious with Caterpillars

Curiosity is promoted in all Head Start classrooms through meaningful opportunities and discovery. Basic scientific attributes such as hypothesizing, predicting and experimenting, help children to better understand the world around them. Children expanded their knowledge of caterpillars through observing and interacting with the various stages of their life cycle.

From touching and holding a caterpillar to allowing a butterfly to rest on their finger, children have real-life experiences that create core memories from engaging in tactile educational activities.

Leahi ECS Client Receives Job Readiness Training and Tuition Assistance for Nurse Aide Program

Kamalani is a driven high school graduate already planning her future. She was referred to HCAP’s Leahi District Service Center with a clear goal, obtaining a career in the medical field.  Her journey was set in motion once she was accepted into Hawaii Medical College for the Advance Nurse Aide program.

Shortly after being accepted into the Nurse Aide program, Kamalani enrolled in HCAP’s Nā Lima Hana Employment Core Services Program. She completed Job Readiness Training and received tuition assistance to cover the course expenses so she could focus on attending school.

With the support from Leahi District staff and Kamalani’s determination, she completed the Advance Nurse Aide program and obtained her certification. Since then she has secured promising job opportunities, one of them she was interested in for its growth and stability. She expressed her passion for helping others and giving back to the community and wishes to remain in the medical field to continue building her skills and experiences.

HCAP congratulates Kamalani on this achievement and looks forward to seeing what she will accomplish in the future.
