Program Description:
Nā Lima Hana “for the working hand” Employment Core Services Program provides personalized one-one-one employment counseling services, job readiness training, tuition assistance for vocational school, and job placement to unemployed and underemployed individuals throughout the island of O‘ahu.

Employment Preparation
Participants will attend pre-employment training to learn and participate in:
- Career Goals Planning
- Pre-Employment Training
- Resume building
- Understanding job applications
- How to prepare and dress for an interview
- What to expect at an interview
- Mock interview sessions
- Budgeting class
- Introductory basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PC computer)
Tuition Assistance for Vocational School and GED Assistance
Participants can receive tuition assistance for GED/ESL classes and a range of vocational courses, including automotive technology, carpentry technology, commercial driver licensing, nurse aid training, phlebotomy, optometry assistant training, advanced pharmacy technician training, and more. ECS offers tuition assistance at the following institutions and organizations:
- Honolulu Community College
- Kapi`olani Community College
- Leeward Community College
- Windward Community College
- Professional Healthcare Educators
- Caregiver Training School
- And more
Milestones
Participants will complete the following milestones:
- Intake, Assessment & Individual Service Plan
- Employment Preparation/ Job Development
- Vocational Tuition/GED assistance
- Job Placement
- Job Support
- Job Maintenance and Retention
Intake Locations
Intake for the program is conducted at each of HCAP’s five District Service Centers, located throughout the island of Oahu.
